I had plans for this years Ramadan and I just cannot believe today is 16th of Ramadan, its like finding out a new deadline for your project and you want to hurry up to hopefully finish it in the way you want. First of all, how did 15 days pass like that?! Where was I?! Seriously, I asked myself again and again and I cannot get it, how did those massive 15 days fastforward like that. Just to make it clear, my plans did not include going out every night and go to tents and have some sheesha and play some tarneeb (cards) and listen to some music. My plans did not include going to tents or clubs where I can listen to some cheap singer singing beside a belly dancer. And for sure my plans did not include sitting all night my eyes glued to the TV. I can keep on listing what my plans did not include, but this is enough :)
What it did actually include was to read the Quran (khatm) at least two times during Ramadan, to pray during the night, especially the last third of the night. I planned to listen and watch islamic lectures. Those were some of my plans. What I ended up doing during those 15 days?? Eyes glued on the notebook (laptop) screen. Watching Bab El-7ara 3, Sharaf Fat7 El-Bab, Freej and Sha3biyat Al-Cartoon; there goes 3 hours :) I was also sick the last 3 days, had a cold. Now ofcourse I did fast and I did pray the 5 prayers, but this is the minimum to do, right?
But I wont sit and cry on what passed me, better than doing that is rescheduling what I want to do during the next half of Ramadan. The reason I said what I said and shared this with you is to make it as a wakeup call, for you and me. It is not done yet, those who are like me and are sad that they missed half of Ramadan, or some part of it, stop weeping and pickup your act and start today, we still have 14/15 days more including one of the best days ever, Lailat Al-Qadr.
